The volunteer members of the society are able to provide research services on a very reasonable fee basis. Quotes are available on request.

PowerPoint Presentations

The society has a number of PowerPoint presentations which can be shown for local schools, organisations and groups. These presentations are about the Borough of Granville and the history of the people, places, religion, commerce, sport and other topics relating to the district.

"From Forest to Factory"

A presentation of photographs that can be modified to suit schools goes for 3/4 hour to 1 hour and is the history to 1920 with a little of the modern history included. Speaker Barry Bullivant OAM

"Shuttleworth Family from Gawthorpe to Granville"

An hour of photographs and history of the Shuttleworth family from early 1200's to the present time. Speaker Barry Bullivant OAM

"Reverend Henry Fulton, Pioneer, Clergyman,Magistrate & Teacher"

An hour of photographs that takes you from the Irish Rebellion in 1798 until his death in 1840, his life in Ireland, Norfolk Island and Australia. Speaker Barry Bullivant OAM

"Scottish Immigration from Alba to Australia"

An hour presentation of photographs depicting the history of Scottish Immigration into the Parramatta and Granville areas, covering the history of the Scottish people such as Governor Macquarie, John Hay Goodlet, James Houison, Thomas Irons, David Lennox, and other less known people in the area.  Hudson Brothers, Colquhoun, and other manufacturers and business in the area. The History of the Rotary Club of Granville 1993- 2003 2003-2004

An hour of photographs that features members of the club and projects covered in the time. Speaker Barry Bullivant OAM

Victory in the Pacific

A display of photographs and images showing the effect of the war in Australia particularly in the suburb of Granville 45 minutes in length Speaker Barry Bullivant OAM

The Centenary of Rotary International

Images and dialogue of the history of Rotary from the inception in 1905 in Chicago and the spread around the world also Rotary working in Australia Speaker Barry Bullivant OAM

The Gazzards from Granville and Parramatta

A display of photographs which trace their lives from England to Australia and their work, lives and community involvement talk takes approximately one hour. Speaker Barry Bullivant OAM

 

A Walk on the North Side-A Virtual tour of Harris Park

A tour of the historic houses in Harris Park, their history, their photographs and the families that lived in them. Talk takes approximately one hour. Speaker Barry G Bullivant OAM

 

Photographic Displays

 

The society erects photographic displays for special events such as Seniors Week, Heritage Week and History Week.

A rotating display is put into the Granville Branch Library and changed every two months; it reflects the theme of an event or a subject of choice.

Displays can be arranged on request for specific events.

Research Service

Research can be carried out by people who visit our rooms at Granville on Wednesdays between 10.00am and 4.30pm or on the fourth Saturday of the month 1.00pm until 4.30pm. Research officers are prepared to research your family or subject for a nominal fee.

Archive Services

The society undertakes to sort, catalogue, organise, film and repair local archives. We have worked on the records of St Mark's Anglican Church, Granville Boys High School and Parramatta/Granville Showground Trust.

This service is available to interested groups by special arrangement.

 

Preservation of your Family History Information

 

Learn how to file your precious photographs and information in an acid free environment, or on the computer. A seminar to be held in at the Granville Neighbourhood Centre will be tailored to suit people who want to learn various ways to store their collections and photographs.   Instructions on how to use the computer to prepare Powerpoint presentations, how to use various Family History computer programmes, how to scan photographs and certificates and save to a CD.
